Borussia Dortmund 2025-26 Bundesliga Fixtures: Comfortable First Two Months Could See Dortmund Top By October?
Following the long-awaited release of the Bundesliga fixtures – no doubt that Borussia Dortmund fans will be pleased that the club’s first two months at least, do not look too difficult.
By the time October comes around (on paper, anyway), the club could be top of the pile – or at least joint with rivals Bayern Munich who they travel to face in the middle of the month.
This fixture last season – in April no less, ended in a dramatic draw with a late equaliser from Dortmund. Meanwhile, points were also evenly divided for the reverse on Matchday 12 with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
For the first game of the campaign, Dortmund travel to FC St Pauli. They took maximum points from both matches last season – the latest in April being a 2-0 away win.

Could A Title Challenge Be Mounted?

After finishing fourth last season, Der BVB will be keen to improve on this, though there will need to be a dramatic upturn. Despite doing well to hold their own against eventual winners Bayern Munich, they dropped silly points and gave away leads, while losing games they should have won.
A 3-1 defeat away at Mainz plus a 2-1 home defeat against VFB Stuttgart are just a couple of the games that are sure to stick in the minds of fans.
Dortmund though, do have an easier start than a couple of their rivals. They host FC Union Berlin in their second league fixture – a match they won 6-0 back in February, while they then face FC Heidenheim – a team they comfortably beat twice last term.
Admittedly, Wolfsburg at home could then be a bit of a test. While they lost in the DFB Kopal last season, Dortmund did rack up a 7-1 victory over the two league points, with six points, including a 4-0 win at Signal Iduna Park in May.
Just before the Bayern game, RB Leipzig at home may present the sternest test yet. Despite a narrow 2-1 win in this fixture last season, they lost 4-1 away later in the campaign. Though, it could really be all to play for by the time they travel to Bavaria.
What Are The Other Key Fixtures?
It will be interesting to see what kind of Bayer Leverkusen side we see this season, following the departure of coach Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid. For now, it appears to be a team that is ripe for cherry-picking with the likes’ of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong having departed for Liverpool. No doubt there could be a number of other names being watched by other clubs this summer as well.
Last season, Dortmund lost 3-2 at home, before a 4-2 away victory and there could be a couple of interesting games this campaign. The first one comes at the end of November, with Leverkusen playing host, while the corresponding fixture is in April.
More than likely, you would expect Dortmund to easily be challenging for a top-four spot, though there is no reason why they can’t go one step further this time around.
