Borussia Dortmund’s players rated from the 6-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach

Here’s how Borussia Dortmund’s players fared in an emphatic 6-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga-

Burki- 7

Was left kicking the post in frustration as Lars Stindl became the first player to score a goal past him in the Bundesliga this season. Had a flawless game apart from that, as he made four fine saves in the match.

Piszczek- 6.5

Was reliable at right-back and the only blot on his evening was a failed back pass in the first half which went straight to an opposition attacker. Was masked today but cannot make such mistakes in the UCL on Tuesday.

Toprak- 6.5

Another solid display as a stand-in for Bartra, as he took care of whatever that came his way. Could’ve been more ambitious as most of his passes were sideways and backways.

Sokratis- 7.5

Another brilliant game for the defender who received a great reception when subbed off in the 83rd minute. His highlight of the game came in the 45th minute as his audacious 40-meter pass was picked up by Philipp who squared it to Aubameyang for a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Toljan- 7

Justified the manager’s decision to start ahead of Zagadou at left back. Clinched his first assist for his new club as he played in Philipp with a cutback for his side’s second goal of the day.

Dahoud- 7.5

Is slowly cementing his place in the first team. Started the move for the second goal as he robbed former BVB player Ginter’s pass and cut it for Toljan at the left. He even got an assist himself as he intercepted Jannik Vestergaard’s pass and played it to Aubameyang in the 62nd minute.

Weigl- 8

Brilliant in his first start post his return from injury. Was superb in defending and was equally effective going forward. Scored his first ever Bundesliga goal as he smashed the ball past Tobias Sippel in the 79th minute from outside the box.

Gotze- 7.5

Complemented well with the athletic duo of Dahoud and Weigl, and his vision and attacking prowess make them a great midfield trio. Picked up an assist as well in the beginning of the second half.

Pulisic- 7

Did not manage even a single goal or assist, rather surprisingly, but his skills and pacey runs were enough for him to have a good game.

Philipp- 9

Was touted as Reus’ short-term replacement but he can surely be even better than him. Scored two goals and even managed an assist in an exceptional performance.

Aubameyang- 9

His brace tonight took him to fourth on the list of BVB’s all-time goal scorer’s list. Needs two more goals to go past third-placed Lothar Emmerich.

SUBSTITUTES

Kagawa- 6.5

Replaced Pulisic after the hour mark and was flawless yet again. Couldn’t do anything extraordinary and stuck to the basics as the three points were already in the hat.

Dahoud- 6.5

Replaced a tired Piszczek in the second half, and was solid and effective in passing.

Bartra- NA

Late cameo to improve his match fitness ahead of the Real Madrid game on Tuesday.
