Dortmund Players Rated from the 2-0 victory over Hertha BSC

Here’s how the Borussia Dortmund players fared in the victory over Hertha Berlin:

Burki- 7

Had little to do apart from saving a late effort from Haraguchi and making a quick reflex save from a corner. Won’t get many such days in the future when he doesn’t have to do so little.

Piszczek- 6.5

Was really solid and composed in defence against his former side, and linked up well with Pulisic on the right side. Badly needs to brush up his crossing skills, though.

Sokratis- 6

Difficult night for the centre-back, who had a really intense tussle with Vedad Ibisevic. Was booked for a silly foul before being subbed off as he was dizzy after that collision.

Bartra- 6.5

Didn’t have much to do at the back, and given his exploits last week, he was expected to do better to supplement the attack. Didn’t put a foot wrong, though.

Zagadou- 7.5

Has been a revelation and looks a future superstar. Plays so well at left-back that it is surprising that he’s naturally a centre-back. Provided a great threat going forwards, helping Philipp with some neat balls. Needs to brush up his defensive positioning, though.

Castro- 6.5

Didn’t do anything that caught the eye, apart from losing possession cheaply but regaining it almost instantly. Was quietly effective in the middle of the park.

Sahin- 8.5

Superb performance from the man-of-the-match, who scored one and assisted another goal. Scored his first league goal in two and a half years, but his rocket from the edge of the box suggested otherwise.

Gotze- 7

Bosz stated prior to the match that Gotze would play for only an hour, and as promised, he was replaced by Kagawa. Apart from a couple of miscued passes, he was flawless. Looks like he’s on his way to becoming that old Gotze everybody loved.

Pulisic- 7.5

Was the most lively and active player on the pitch, and his run that culminated in a save from Jarstein was brilliant. He danced past defenders on will, but couldn’t get a goal to mark off another impressive performance.

Aubameyang- 7.5

Grass is green. Dortmund is yellow. Aubameyang scores again. Nothing new here- this lad just can’t stop scoring.

Philipp- 7

Came very close to scoring his first goal for the club, and had a frustrating evening even after creating a number of chances. Only a matter of time before he scores- he’s undoubtedly got the talent to score week in, week out.

SUBSTITUTES

Toprak- 6.5

Came on for the injured Sokratis, but didn’t have much to do. Obviously a more than able deputy at centre-back.

Kagawa- 6

Looks out of form, but that’s obvious since he’s just returned from injury. Needs more minutes under his belt before he starts shining again.

Dahoud- NA

Came on too late to make much of an impact.

Subs Not Used– Weidenfeller, Subotic, Isak, Passlack
