Dortmund Players Rated from the 2-1 victory over Augsburg

Here’s how Borussia Dortmund’s players fared in the 2-1 win over FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga-

Burki- 7.5

Superb performance from the goalkeeper, who made a couple of brilliant saves to keep his side in the game. His high positioning was useful too as it helped prevent a number of Augsburg chances.

Piszczek- 6.5

Wasn’t as solid defensively as he usually is, but he did well going forward and whipped in a couple of dangerous crosses. Combined well with Yarmolenko at times.

Bartra- 6.5

Looked out of form in his first start after injury. Poor marking gifted Augsburg a goal from Caiuby’s header, but he stepped up his game after that and produced a much better performance later on. Provided Auabmeyang with a superb chance one-on-one, which the Gabonese somehow fluffed.

Sokratis- 7

Was lucky to have not given away a penalty in the first half, but was really solid and were it not for his brilliant defending, Augsburg could’ve ran away with all three points.

Toljan- 5

Poor outing for the young left-back, who was booked for a silly foul. Out of position at times and made a couple of defensive errors.

Weigl- 6.5

Hasn’t been at his best since his return from injury, and his performance today was decent at best. Looked a bit hesitant in possession and wasn’t too involved in attack.

Kagawa- 7

Provided a goal of the season contender, as he delightfully chipped the keeper with perfect power and accuracy. Wasn’t too good in midfield but his goal and some decent chances were enough for him to have a good outing.

Dahoud- 6.5

Was solid in defence and dangerous in attack, but nothing much came off for him, as Dortmund shut shop in the second half.

Pulisic- 6.5

Looked a bit selfish on the ball and apart from a couple of decent runs, his game wasn’t anything of note. Needs to find his form back quickly, as we all know that he’s much, much better than this.

Yarmolenko- 8

Superb performance from the winger, whose delightful back-heeled goal and simple assist for Kagawa’s goal were pretty much the moments of the match. The new signing has definitely proven his critics wrong, overcoming his slow start to the season in an emphatic manner.

Aubameyang- 5

One of his worst games in months, as he fluffed a one-on-one and later missed a penalty as well. Surprising outing for the usually superb striker but he’s just a human being, after all.

SUBSTITUTES:

Castro- 6

Made a couple of solid interceptions and kept the ball at his feet for long durations so as to run down the clock as Dortmund shut down shop.

Philipp- 6

Was involved only in defence as his side tried to see off a win.

Toprak- NA

Came on too late to make an impact.

Subs Not Used– Weidenfeller, Zagadou, Sancho, Sahin.
