BVB prepare to lose £120m wonder winger Sancho to boyhood idols Chelsea

He’s without doubt one of world football’s hottest properties. He’s aged only 19, has 11 international caps for England – and in terms of his future in the game, the ball is very much at his feet.

Now, it seems, BVB fans must get used to the idea that they are going to lose Jadon Sancho after it was revealed Premier League giants Chelsea are ready, willing and able to splash out a staggering £120million; the reported fee needed to take him away from Signal Iduna Park.

And the one thing that may well tilt the chances of acquiring Sancho, who has found the back of the net 17 times for Dortmund so far this campaign, in the Blues’ favour? Well, believe it or not he was a big fan of the Stamford Bridge outfit when he was growing up in Camberwell, London.

But Frank Lampard’s side won’t have it all their own way in their pursuit of the BVB favourite. First, you have the chance, admittedly slight, that he chooses to stay with the Bundesliga giants. But what doesn’t help this likelihood is the fact that there is still some uncertainty regards the future of current Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre. It is known that Sancho gets on very well with Favre and if he isn’t at the BVB helm next season, who is to say that a new head coach coming in won’t have the same relationship with the attacker?

That said, Three Lions winger Sancho could well opt to stay contented and continue his football in Germany. That’s according to BVB chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke. Earlier this season he said of the fleet-of-foot attacker:

“I think he has the feeling that the club does have a good future. In my opinion, I don’t think he wants to leave. We have a very confidential relationship between us and him and his agents. We will discuss it. It’s not a question of money. For us, it would be the best position if he stays at Borussia Dortmund.”

Yes, but a fee of £120million might change all that! And that was then, this is now.

The speculation of where the BVB star will end up continues to do the rounds with the mainstream media lapping up every single twist in the ongoing saga. So, who else is in the running to take Dortmund’s prize asset? Well, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for his services. But could it be that his affection for the Blues as a child leads Sancho to decide upon a switch to play for Lampard’s men? Time will tell, of that there can be little doubt. One thing is for sure, he would be a brilliant addition to Chelsea — and a big, big loss to BVB.
