Which BVB players impressed in the 3-0 victory over Wolfsburg?

Burki- 6.5

Wasn’t really tested much and he was on hand to rush out of his goal at times to intercept and avoid any difficult situations.

Piszczek- 6.5

Another player who wasn’t really tested due to his team’s dominance, but dealt well with whatever little that was thrown at him.

Sokratis- 7

Another solid performance from the centre-back who started the match in his usual dominant style by feistily clearing long-balls and even toppling over an opponent.

Bartra- 8

Was solid in defence, but his best moment came when he took everyone by surprise and scored a screamer in the 27th minute

Zagadou- 7

Confident performance from the 18 year old on his Bundesliga debut. The highlight of his match came when he completed an inch-perfect 60 yard pass to Aubameyang which instigated the first goal.

Castro- 6

Ineffective performance from the midfielder. Was totally out of form in the first half, with even simple passes not coming off for him. Marginally improved after the break, but still didn’t justify his spot in the line-up.

Sahin- 6.5

Decent performance at the heart of the midfield. Made a couple of brilliant tackles and interceptions which caught the eye. Needs to work a bit on his driven passes and vision as well.

Gotze- 7

Impressive performance on his first start in months, and he even notched up an assist. Was hauled off just after the hour mark but it was a relieving sight to see him coming back to his best.

Phillip- 6

Didn’t do anything much of note apart from his clever runs to try and find openings. Needs to brush up his crossing.

Pulisic- 8.5

Superb performance and a man-of-the-match display from the 18 year old, who became BVB’s youngest ever foreign topscorer with 6 Bundesliga goals to his name. He even assisted Aubameyang’s goal after the break.

Aubameyang- 7

First goal in the first game from last season’s topscorer. Not at his usual beat but did manage to score an important goal which all but ended Wolfsburg’s hopes of a comeback.

SUBSTITUTES

Dahoud- 6.5

Came on for Gotze at the hour mark. Did show some glimpses of his talent.

Passlack- N/A

Came on for Zagadou who had a cramp with 12 minutes left. Didn’t see too much of the ball.

Kagawa- N/A

Came on for the final 5 minutes as he stepped up his return from injury. Could’ve scored a goal but was unable to make contact with the ball in the final minute.

Subs Not Used– Weidenfeller, Subotic, Isak, Toprak.
